Theatre912’s Y.E.S. is specifically created for the young, serious actor to discover the limitless bounds of their imagination. In a supportive atmosphere of guidance and fun, every young potential artist who comes through our doors learns the self-confidence, discipline, and professional expectations that unlock their talent to fulfill their dream of acting. Our faculty has National performing and teaching credits with cumulatively hundreds of hours of experience. Most classes build to a final, free performance for invited family and friends presented on the Theatre9/12 stage.

Week long camps culminating with a free performance
for friends and families! Ages 8 and older
Kids show up on Monday, get cast, rehearse, and perform the show by Friday! 9am - 2 pm, Mon-Fri. The Cost is $250 per child plus a free performance for family and friends on the Theatre9/12 Stage on Fridays (1:00pm)

TREASURE ISLAND
JUNE 24-28
We begin our tale at the Admiral Benbow Inn where young Jim Hawkins and his mother are the caretakers. One stormy night, in walks an old “sea dog.” This begins our adventure to find buried treasure and face off against the infamous pirate Long John Silver. Yo ho ho and shiver me timbers as we jump aboard the Hispanola bound the Caribbean where swordfights, muskets, battles and action abound in the original pirate tale.
REAL WOMEN OF FAIRY TALE LAND
JULY 8-12
Queen Cougar and King and Queen Leopard agree to a marriage between Prince Leo Leopard and Princess Blanc Cougar. The Princess is thrilled, and the Prince is horrified. But the Royal Ball features a clandestine escape attempt, dishing in the audience confession booth, and a knock-down drag-out catfight. This fairy tale turns out to be anything but!

Put your imagination into action! Join us as we create our own magical creature-characters and weave together our own, one-of-kind storyplay. We will use creative movement, theatre games, improvisation, storytelling, and yoga to play our way to a “sharing” on the final day.
A COMEDY OF ERRORS
JULY 15-19
Shakespeare’s classic comedy of mistaken identity between two sets of twins. Needless to say, hilarity will ensue!
PETER PAN
JULY 22-26
Join Peter, Wendy, John, Michael, Tiger Lily and all the fantastic characters of Neverland in our storybook staging of Peter’s adventures. Taken from J.M. Barrie’s novels Peter and Wendy and The Little White Bird. The adventures will include Captain Hook and the Mermaids' Lagoon, Wendy's big choice and the origins of Peter himself. So think good thoughts and come away with us as we fly into Neverland.
GREEK MYTH TRILOGY
JULY 29-AUG 2
Delve inside the wondrous mythos of the Greeks with this week long play intensive. Be it a God, King or mere mortal, play your part as this adventure has just begun!

Not just for Glee fans! Sing and stage popular and modern songs using dance and theatrical movement to bring it all to life. Styles and themes might include “spies on a mission,” “zombies dancing in a graveyard,” or even “models strutting the high fashion catwalks in New York. So be prepared! Anything can happen and often does!

THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
AUG 19-23
Help us bring Lewis Carroll’s second journey into Wonderland to life. This time Alice enters Wonderland through the looking glass and there she must play in a great game of chess. Along the way she meets Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Humpty Dumpty, and the Red and White Queens. It is a story-theater adaptation filled with magical transformations and enough comedy to tickle your funny bone.
MACBETH
AUG 26-30
Shakespeare's shortest tragedy is superstitiously called “The Scottish Play.” The Macbeths’ taste for power ignites passionate desires fueled by murder and deception. Few are left standing in this haunting play.

Come join the fun and be a part of an ensemble! Get away from the Seattle winter through story, dance and music by taking a musical journey on the Imagination Express. Using Children’s literature, fables and folk tales from around the world, visit all of the 7 continents and make it home by lunchtime.
Musical Theater Class – Megan Becker

This comprehensive class is for anyone who has ever wanted to be in a musical. Become a triple threat; learn how to tell a story through the basic elements of acting, music and dance. Having fun and enjoying yourself is definitely a requirement for this class. Ends with a showcase!

Who is the jokester in the house, captivating everyone with stories of their family, school, team or friends? This class is for them. Y.E.S actors learn the craft of effective storytelling, how to engage an audience directly in solo work. The class builds to a final showing.
Introduction to Screen Acting – Meredith Binder

Wednesdays, 8 sessions: 4:30-6:00pm
Price: $180.00 + $35.00 lab fee
An on-camera class where the Y.E.S. students learn the fundamentals of screen acting through a series of acting exercises using improvisation, physical tasks, interviews and scripted dialogue. The students will become familiar with screen acting terminology, and experience the difference between screen and stage techniques. Each class begins with a vocal and physical warm-up, and the course ends with a DVD of students’ work. Lab Fee

Acting begins with step one, and this class introduces the first steps in creating a character, working scenes, and understanding text. Through an atmosphere of support and fun, new actors begin to lose their shyness, abandon their self-consciousness, and release their hidden talents.

Improvisation is an essential tool for all actors. Whether they like to sing, dance, act or just have fun on stage, they will learn the effective guidelines of improvisation to create exciting characters, scenes and stories. Freed from the restrictions of established text, the Y.E.S. actors' true spontaneous creativity is stimulated and inspired. As Charles Darwin said “In the long history of humankind (and animal kind too) those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.” The class will conclude with a performance/party.

Fairies, magic gone awry, and humans turning into donkeys, zounds! It can only mean one thing: A Midsummer Night's Dream. Students will create props and costumes in preparation for acting out a scene from one of the Shakespeare’s most popular plays. This nurturing approach is an effective way for kids to get their feet wet introducing them to performing.

Intro to Movement – Roger Tompkins
Max class size 10
Ages: 8-13
Tuesdays, 8 sessions: 4:00-5:30pm
Price: $180.00
This 8-week workshop teaches the Y.E.S. actor to influence and change their partner through physical action instead of relying on words. Using theatre masks, stage movement (blocking), props and developing posture, this non-verbal communication becomes focused and specific. Ultimately, these adjustments to a person's physical representation are usable in any job interview or public presentation.
Outreach Programs
Boot Camp: Musical Theater Audition Workshop–Megan Becker
Enliven your auditions by being coached through simulated dance and singing auditions, and cold (unrehearsed) readings.
Whether you are a seasoned performer or starting out, this class is a must for performers who want to further their audition skills.
Make – up–TBA
A fun workshop where students learn the use of make-up to create characters from standard make-up to applying beards, inventing a clown face, crafting believable scars and injuries, and advanced age. You may be surprised whom you take home after class!
Improvisation – Jack Lush
Using the spontaneous, unwritten scenes that students make up on the spur of the moment, this workshop builds confidence, communication skills, interpersonal relations, and teamwork. Learn how make it up as you go and bust a gut along the way!
Theme based Workshops
Tea Overboard – Ruth McRee
Using stories based on primary historical sources, fifth graders dramatize, enact, and become the characters from the American Revolution, exploring it from six different points of view.
Brave New World – Ruth McRee
Using drama, active interactive problem solving, and improvisation, students explore the enduring American values that arrived with the first colonists’ footfalls in the New World. This program challenges students to reconsider their own values and to weigh the potential consequences.

Discover your inner clown! Students will develop their own clown’s make-up, costume, character, and unique twist on their untapped goofball.

Intro to The Masters Class – Roger Tompkins
Civilizations first playwrights did not write for the classroom, but for their audience to be entertained. Their themes and ideas about human nature and our societies are still relevant to today’s generation. The Y.E.S. actor will perform these ancient classics as well as scenes from the contemporary plays they influenced. In comparing and contrasting, Y.E.S. actors discover there is truly “nothing new under the sun.”
